Get to know me a little better
Still a child at heart!
First I would like to thank you for your interest in my service.
So who am I? What are my experiences?
My name is Antoinette.
Here you will get some insight of who I am
and where my passion for animals comes from.
In our household when growing up we were taught how to care for our pets from paper training, walking, feeding, bathing, brushing, clipping their nails, playing and teaching them basic commands. This stayed with me throughout my life. At a young age I grew up around Dobermans, Belgium Shepherds, Poodles and yes we also had cats. As I grew up the love for animals became stronger. In my teenage years, Strays started seeking me out. So I had no other choice but to bring them home, you can imagine my parents weren't too happy. Out of it I saved two white shepherds a Black Lab and the biggest of them all the mighty St. Bernard. We can't forget the stray cats. Four in total. Today remains only two. Mr. Frodo and Seminole.

Now all grown up settled in life, some years ago my husband and I decided it's time for a new family member. So off we went to North Shore and guess what we were denied. We were told we weren't able to provide the love and attention a puppy needs. Being, two working professionals. You could imagine how dis-appointed we felt. So it was Thor’s lucky day. He was the first pet I ever purchased. I always had a fascination with Huskies the only dog I had a brief encounter with as a child. So one day I knew I would have one of my own. I did my research on Huskies knew it would be a challenge and it was. We ended up going to puppy kindergarten we got kicked out; the other parents didn't want Thor there. His face alone was very intimidating to others. So we got a private trainer. The trainer taught me so much more and tools to use when he decided to run. Being an escape artist to destroying so much as a pup the lessons paid off. Then came Lucy a rescue mutt a retriever mix, she was a tiny thing from TN. A $5 dollar pup to who knows how much in vet bills. The Vet asked “do you really want to take this on for a $5 dollar puppy?” I replied, Yes I do. She had the red mange, a 5 ml bottle of meds $75. Today she is perfect
So here I am today with my passion for animals and now being a stay at home mom, with a very smart 8 year old loving animals herself. Giving up our puppies some time ago to tend to our daughter was the hardest thing I had to do. I really miss them being around. Thor he is now 12 and Lucy 10 they are both very happy in a very nice home on Long Island. They also come for stays once a year, which is awesome.
So with my experiences and have had my own. I know how it feels to leave your family member at a vets office for boarding when you have to go away. Not a very good feeling.
Your loved one won't be feeling sad and lonely when mommy or daddy has to go away. They will be so excited for the the new adventure with new sights and smells that awaits them. One thing I truly believe in is no pet should be chained, caged or left outside all the time for any reason. If people think that's the way to go they don't deserve to have or take care of our loved ones at all.

The mighty St. Bernard this one my parents got involved in helping to find his owners. He wasn't looking his best. With a little TLC, he was one beautiful dog who just needed love. He was a friendly gentle soul being he was a guard dog for a used car dealership. I really didn't want him to go back there but my dad insisted to return him because he had an owner. I would go back to visit him but to my surprise again looking all scruffy and tied to a long metal chain. My heart sank this was the first time in my life seeing a dog being treated in such way.

Now did you ever have the experience of a stray finding you, walking you to school and wait for you and follow you home again? Well I have, this continued for days. I tried to shoo him away, but he wasn't giving up, he sought me out to be his new owner. That was Midnight the black lab. Who could not fall in love with an animal that stays by your side?
What an experience! |
